Coaching messiness
We all know that by coaching in this approach, coaches have to feel comfortable with messy practices. But they should also feel comfortable with the messiness in their own development. Trying out new games and new rules may sometimes be messy, take multiple iterations to get right, or just need to be thrown out completely. But much like players, that ability to be creative, try things out, reflect, and learn is what can make you even better.
That said, don’t mistake messiness for a lack of preparation. Being intentional and having a clear purpose behind what you’re trying is what gives the “mess” its value.
And of course, I’ve done some of this work for you already!
